Four different control rooms have been judged by 18 subjects to evaluate speech produced by two monitors. For music, the same investigations were previously made (AES Convention, Eindhoven). Reverberation, reflection, energy versus time, etc., were changed while room shape, monitors, listening position, and program material stayed constant. For A/B comparisons, artificial head recordings were necessary. Control rooms for speech must follow definite requirements which partly differ from music monitoring. Comparisons with existing control rooms will be made.
