Monitoring speakers fulfill a broad variety of requirements, depending on their usage in different types of control rooms, e.g. for speech and music, radio, and TV. The properties of loudspeakers are distinctly altered by room influences such as reflections, absorbing areas, and the loudspeaker position. Four different control rooms were build and investigated, using 3 types of high-quality speakers. Each pair of speakers was carefully equalized for the listening position i the middle of the mixing desk. Without this equalization, the loudspeakers sound different. The tests were made with music and speech.
