The DASH format for digital audio multitrack recording supports tape cut editing. The paper explains in detail how this requirement largely determined the format, along with the interleave structure and error correction strategy. The supporting circuitry necessary to handle splices is also detailed, with particular reference to servo phasing problems and the mechanism for making a synchronous recording over a splice.
