This paper will describe techniques used in designing and implementing a distributed sound reinforcement system for a renovation of a historic chapel in Concord, New Hampshire. The project is unusual because of the chapel's unique seating arrangement and multiple talker locations, several of which are used simultaneously during an event. The system is designed to help the audience localize the talkers. The paper will compare the system with a conventional distributed system, and show how today's digital signal processors allow complicated sound reinforcement techniques to be implemented easily and cost-effectively, even for small to medium-sized projects.
