Designing Sound and Creating Soundscapes for the Still Images in the Documentary "Black, Not Gray: Ankara Rocks!"

Document Thumbnail

Audio post-production for documentaries is a highly challenging process since there is a variety of audio recordings in differing qualities, coming from different sources, from old video tapes to interviews conducted on noisy streets. However, what is possibly even more challenging is working with still images, such as photographs, which do not have any associated audio recordings, and making them “come to life.” This paper discusses the approaches and techniques for the creation of sound design and soundscapes for the still images in the feature-length documentary, titled Black, Not Gray: Ankara Rocks!
