BOZENA KOSTEK holds professorship at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, Audio Acoustics Laboratory, Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), Poland. She received her M.Sc. degrees in Sound Engineering (1983) and Organization and Management (1986) from GUT. She also received postgraduate DEA degree (1988) from Toulouse University, France. In 1992 she supported her Ph.D. thesis with honors at GUT, and in 2000 her D.Sc. degree at the Research Systems Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2005 President of Poland granted her the title of Professor. Her main research interests include signal processing, human-computer and interaction, behavioral processing, cognitive bases of sound and vision processing. She published over 400 scientific papers in journals and at international conferences. Prof. Kostek has served as the Editor-in-Chief of Archives of Acoustics (ISI journal) since 2008. B. Kostek is an expert and evaluator for FP6 and FP7 European Programs. She led a number of research projects sponsored by the Polish Ministry of Science and Education, and took an active part in the 6th and 7th FP European Projects, including those related to biomedical engineering and medical applications of technology. She was the recipient of many prestigious awards for research, including those of the Prime Minister of Poland for outstanding research achievements, prizes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Science. She also received the Audio Eng. Soc. Fellowship Award in 2010. In 2003, 2005 and 2009 she was elected as Vice President of the Audio Engineering Society for Central Europe Region and in 2007 - the AES Governor. In October 2011 President of the AES, nominated her as the Editor-in-Chief of the JAES.
In 2010, Bozena Kostek was presented with the AES Fellowship Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of audio.
In 2013, Bozena Kostek was presented with the AES Citation Award in recognition for her outstanding efforts as Editor to improve the quality, responsiveness, and impact of the AES Journal.
In 2015, Bozena Kostek was presented with the AES Board of Governors Award in recognition of her co-chairing the 138th AES Convention in Warsaw, Poland, in May 2015.
