AES Los Angeles 2016 Presenter or Author

Mikhail Pahomov

Primary Affiliation: LG Electronics, Inc. - St. Petersburg, Russia

Mikhail Pakhomov was born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), Russia. He received the M.Sc. degree in applied mathematics from the Saint-Petersburg State Marine University, St-Petersburg, Russia, in 1998. Since 2004, he has been with LG Electronics Inc., Russian branch. He started as a manager and developer of the project on modeling the acoustic field for dynamic loudspeakers. This project was successfully completed and the developed software is used for modeling the company’s audio products. It allows to simulate the acoustic field in the linear approximation upon the speaker’s characteristics, the environment geometry and applied power; estimate deformation of the enclosure and the diaphragm, and simulate the sound field generated by these effects. Software complex includes simulation of magnetic flux, the voice coil heating and the intensity of the air flow caused by movement of the diaphragm.
Since 2012 his professional activity has been focused on psychoacoustic research. He has developed a software tool for instrumental evaluation of audio quality for mobile devices. He is currently working towards the Ph. D. degree in instrumental assessment of sound quality of mobile devices.
