TT2 - RECORD INDUSTRY VINYL PRESSING PLANT

Abstract:
Vinyl Pressing Plant, Haarlem

Record Industry is the largest vinyl pressing plant in Europe. With 31 presses they have a production capacity of at least 40,000 records per shift. The facilities are comprise of three studios to cater to all needs: vinyl lacquer and DMM cutting, CD mastering, and archive restoration. As a special service they supplied "Historic Masters" with 78 RPM pressings. Mr. Sean Davies, well known AES member and technical member of Historic Masters, and Rinus Hooning, Audio Manager Record Industry, are able to press from 100 (or more)-year old 78 RPM metal parts, using custom made tooling. The tour will start at the studios followed by a visit to the galvanic department (metal plating), the actual pressing plant, and the packaging department. At the end of the tour there will be time for questions and answers.

Technical Tours are made available on a first come, first served basis. Tickets can be purchased during normal registration hours at the convention center.
