SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO
The Sirius Satellite Radio Complex is a “bleeding edge” facility epitomizing radio’s position as a 21st Century entertainment/communications staple. The midtown studio has approximately 7 terabytes of storage and maintains large collections of CDs to augment their digital libraries, which also retransmits programming that originates elsewhere including news, sports, and comedy channels. Digital compression is key to satellite radio utilizing sophisticated algorithms to compress as much material as possible onto available bandwidth without causing audio quality to degrade.
Price: $25 members; $35 nonmembers
Technical Tours are made available on a first come, first served basis.
