AES TOTALLY SURROUNDED

Pre-Convention Surround Live III Symposium Focus on Live Performance, Sports, Broadcast and Environmental 5.1

NEW YORK: Epitomizing the latest innovations and applications “Surround Live III - Totally Surrounded” a pre-119th AES Convention Special Event will be held on Thursday October 6th, 2005 from 10AM-6PM. Advance registration is $125 for AES members, $150 on site. Non-members may attend for $150 in advance and $175 on site. The symposium will be held at the Grand Ballroom in Manhattan Center Studios, 311 W.34th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.

Event Chair, Frederick J. Ampel, has assembled a panel of experts in all aspects of surround sound and state of the art 5.1systems and ancillary equipment. Ampel’s credentials as principal/founder of Technology Visions, a consultancy specializing in marketing and business development for the pro audio and video industries, assure participants of high caliber insights into this rapidly evolving format.

“This symposium represents the most comprehensive event devoted exclusively to the creation, production, and reproduction of live audio in multi-channel sound,” says Ampel, a frequent lecturer at AES, NSCA, INFOCOMM, CEDIA and industry conferences worldwide. “Anyone with a professional interest in performance audio or multi-channel sound is encouraged to attend.”

Participants include: Russ Berger (Russ Berger Design Group), Dave Haydon (Outboard Electronics), Randy Hoffner (ABC Television) and Jonathan Lane-Talaske (Jay Pritzker Pavillion, Millennium Park, Chicago). A full 5.1 + channel large-scale sound system will be installed, along with a Digico console, electronic reverberation technology from Lexicon, Inc. and Shure wireless microphones.

Surround Live III encompasses working professionals from all segments of the industry. The issues and technological challenges presented by full multi channel surround audio formats are far-ranging and fluid. The symposium presents a rare opportunity for the exchange of information and devising new concepts for immersing audiences in the sound field to significantly enhance their overall experience
