Call for Engineering Briefs in New York
Dear Readers, AES convention attendees have expressed a desire for more application-oriented papers. Our current Convention Papers and Posters are often research-oriented, but we have a lot of engineers and practitioners who would appreciate presentations of a more practical nature. At the London AES Convention we instituted a new presentation format, called Engineering Briefs, which are now available on the AES website. These are intended to be short verbal talks or poster presentations that will be of interest to AES members. For the New York Convention, both posters or short 15-minute verbal presentations will be allowed. Contributors must supply a short synopsis by July 15th, 2011, to indicate their desire to present an Engineering Brief, followed later by an electronic manuscript. These manuscripts will be freely available for download for any AES member during and after the Convention, but there will be no paper copies. Topics for the Engineering Briefs can be very wide-ranging, such as studio experience, equipment construction, new loudspeaker concepts, room acoustic measurements, analysis of audio equipment, and project studio startups, to name just a few. Relaxed reviewing of submissions will consider mainly whether they are of interest to AES convention attendees and are not overly commercial. Double-column electronic manuscripts following the prescribed template will be restricted to 4 pages in length, and must be supplied by August 30th, 2011. 24th AES UK Conference
24th AES UK Conference This year’s AES British Section conference, The Ins and Outs of Audio, is designed for product designers, component manufacturers, engineering researchers, students with an interest in audio product design and applications, and users. Topics will include the latest developments in analogue and digital audio interfaces, point-to-point digital links and networking technologies. Bruce Hofer, co-founder and chairman of Audio Precision, will deliver the keynote and the program will include papers from Audinate, CSR, Cypress Semiconductor, Prism Sound, That Corp, Wolfson Micro and Yamaha Music Europe. The conference starts at midday on Monday 27th June, enabling most delegates to travel that morning and save the cost of one night's accommodation.
