The Audio Engineering Society, now in its sixth decade,
is the only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology.
Its membership of leading engineers, scientists and other authorities has
increased dramatically throughout the world, greatly boosting the society's
stature and that of its members in a truly symbiotic relationship. Membership
information can be found here

AES Sections serve members in 47 concentrated geographic areas throughout
the world. Sections in Australia, Canada, Europe, Japan, Mexico, South America,
and the United States hold local meetings regularly for the dissemination of
the most current audio information. Contact and meeting information for all
AES Sections can be found here.

Technical standards are continually being developed under the auspices of
the society. Many of them have since been accepted by international standards
organizations as the model for their standards on the same material. This
activity is under the direction of the AES Standards
Committee.

At the AES Store you can purchase AES Special
Publications Items, AES Preprints, and back issues of the AES Journal.

The Technical Council and its Technical Committees
respond to the interests of the membership by providing technical information
at an appropriate level via conferences, conventions, workshops, and
publications. They work on developing tutorial information of practical
use to the members and concentrate on tracking and reporting the very latest
advances in technology and applications. This activity is under the direction
of the AES Technical Council and its Committees.

Conventions are held annually in the U.S. and Europe.
The sites chosen for these meetings are in, or close to high-density membership
areas affording large groups of members the opportunity of attending. Each
meeting has valuable educational opportunities, including a full program of
technical papers, seminars and workshops covering current research and new
concepts and applications. An integral part of each convention is a comprehensive
exhibit of professional equipment. Some Convention
and Conference Reports are now available.

The Audio Engineering Society Education Committee
hosts the Education Fair at AES conventions and publishes the Directory of
Educational Programs, a comprehensive international guide to educational
programs and career opportunities in Audio.

The AES
Historical Committee is an international forum open to all who
wish to investigate and learn about the achievements of those pioneers
whose innovative ideas and inventions have contributed to audio's
rich past. Dedicated to the preservation of over a century of audio
history, the Committee is developing a broad-based history of audio
engineering and the audio industry. You are welcome to contribute
to our E-mail Reflector, where several interesting projects are
now running. You can check their progress, and explore completed
research of unusual interest, on our website.
