T22 - Mixing Surround for Broadcast and Theatrical Release

Dominick Tavella, Sound One - NYC, NY, USA

Surround mixing was once for theatrical release only. Today surround sound is an intrinsic part of the broadcast world. This tutorial will examine the different approaches necessary for effective surround production for the large and small screen. Dominck Tavella will present a variety of surround mixing examples illustrating the range of approaches used for his OscarĀ® winning mix for "Chicago" to documentaries for director Ken Burns.
