ATSC document A/52 defines Dolby Digital for the emission of multichannel audio data and control information (metadata). Dolby E provides a means of distributing and recording multichannel audio and metadata within the professional environment. The paper discusses the generation of both sets of metadata and a method of serial transmission of metadata as a separate, frame-synchronous signal.
