This paper considers the real-world constraints on the manufacture of long-throw low-frequency loudspeakers. Aspects covered include the magnetic circuit, voice-coil, cone, surround and suspension design, thermal power rating linear travel, magnetic circuit geometry, and other factors which contribute to compression and distortion.
