Practical Challenges of Manufacturing Loudspeakers to Critical Design Parameters

This paper considers the real-world constraints on the manufacture of long-throw low-frequency loudspeakers. Aspects covered include the magnetic circuit, voice-coil, cone, surround and suspension design, thermal power rating linear travel, magnetic circuit geometry, and other factors which contribute to compression and distortion. Production quality control, repeatability in production, and future materials and technologies for extreme environments are also discussed.: Preprint
