At present, three NTSC-compatible consumer video tape formats - Beta, VHS and 8-mm - coexist in the United States. Each is capable of stereophonic recording and reproduction. This paper describes the audio characteristics of these video formats and the methodology used by each for stereo recording/reproduction.:
