Voice-excited vocoders have many advantages over pitch-excited vocoders from the standpoint of conferencing; however, the pitch-excited vocoder has the advantage of greater bandwidth savings. This paper deals almost exclusively with the problems involved in conferencing with pitch-excited vocoders and their solution.
