Applications of Columnar Loudspeaker Systems in Reverberant Halls of Worship
This paper will discuss the application of the two-way columnar loudspeaker system to provide highly intelligible, church sound reinforcement systems. A review of the requirements for speech intelligibility and the limitations of the single array column loudspeaker will be used to illustrate the performance improvements provided by the two-way column design. A new method of using a switchable crossover network and subwoofer system to provide the optimum speech intelligibility of a voice range system with full range music for background accompaniment for choirs will be presented. Three church applications will be discussed.
