David M. Berfanger received the B.S. degree summa cum laude in applied optics from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, IN, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in optics from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. He has worked for Hewlett-Packard Company in digital imaging and printing since 1999 and is currently a senior imaging and perceptual scientist in Vancouver, WA.
