AES Munich 2009 Technical Tour TT12 Sunday, May 10, 09:30 — 13:30
TT12 - Bavaria-Studios Cinepostproduction
Abstract: The CinePostproduction sound department offers the full range of services from editing, sound design, and sound mixing in all formats for feature films, TV movies, and series. The first Dolby digital mixing in Europe—for Stalingrad—was carried out in the sound studios at the Bavaria Film studios at Geiselgasteig, Munich, which belongs to CinePostproduction Bavaria Bild & Ton since 1999. Since 1987 internationally renowned Chief Re-recording Mixer Michael Kranz has worked—initially alongside Oscar nominee Milan Bor—with directors such as Jean-Jacques Annaud, Jean-Jacques Beineix, Volker Schlöndorff, Bernd Eichinger, and Til Schweiger. He has now mixed more than 100 feature films, including Resident Evil with over 350 sound tracks. The Munich sound department offers two fully compatible digital studios, a facility that is unique in Germany. Within a short time frame, a film can be edited concurrently in two studios or two projects can be coordinated at the same time, as with the mixing of (T)Raumschiff Surprise and The Downfall. In addition to the two mixing studios for feature films and two TV mixing studios, there are eight Avid and eight ProTools suites, two re-recording rooms, and a THX preview cinema.
Technical Tours are made available on a first come,
