Tutorial: 7.1 Game Studio Set-Up and Design

Steve Martz, THX; Dirk Noy - WSDGe

As game audio hardware has improved over the years, so have the facilities. And if it's time to build a multi-channel studio, it likely means 5.1 or 7.1 channels of playback. With so much on the line for each title, this can be a daunting task. This workshop will address the challenges and decisions that need to be made when creating these environments. We will provide guidelines to practical studio design and proper set-up for multi-channel configurations. Topics covered include: acoustics, room geometry, subwoofer and surround placement, signal path, reference levels, and bass management.
