Report of the meeting of the SC-05-02 Working Group on Audio Connectors of the SC-05 Subcommittee on Interconnections, held in San Francisco, CA., US., 2010-11-05

The meeting was convened by chair R. A. Rayburn.

The agenda and the report of the previous meeting, 2010-05-03, were accepted as written.

Open projects

AES14-R: Review of AES14-1992 Application of connectors, part 1, XLR-type polarity and gender
A proposal to add an annex covering 'miniature XL' connectors is to be progressed. The miniature XL connectors are to use the same pin-out as full size connectors. M. Natter will collect data from manufacturers, including details needed to prepare a detailed proposal to IEC SC48B to produce an IEC standard. J. Woodgate will look at the structure and text of the proposed Annex.

AES26-R: Review of AES26-2001 Conservation of the polarity of audio signals.
Secretariat to review for editorial updates.

AES45-R: Review of AES45-2001 Connectors for loudspeaker-level patch panels
No action requested or required.

AES-14id-R: Review of AES-14id-2010: AES Information document for interconnections - Universal jack for IEC 60603-11 and B-gauge 6,35 mm plugs
This document was published on 2010-10-28, and its development project AES-X113 is now closed.

Secretariat format PWD awaited.

AES-X183: Audio application of 25-way D-type connectors in balanced circuits
Input from Working Group is requested to resolve a comment arising during the call for comment on AES59-xxxx. The draft document can then be proposed for a fresh call for comment.

New Projects

A proposal was made to develop a Standard for the use of pluggable terminal strips for balanced audio interconnections. Input from the Working Group is requested.

New business

There was no new business.

The next meeting will be scheduled in conjunction with the AES 130th Convention in London, UK 2011-05.
