Report of the meeting of the SC-05-02 Working Group on Audio Connectors of the SC-05 Subcommittee on Interconnections, held in New York, NY, USA, 2019-10-17
The meeting was convened at 15:00 by acting chair Richard Cabot.

The formal notice on patent policy was read.
The meeting agenda was accepted as written.

AES68-R Review of AES68-2014 - AES standard for audio connectors - XL Connectors to Improve Electromagnetic Compatibility
The reaffirmed version has been published.
Development projects
AES72 – Application of RJ45-type connectors and quad twisted-pair cable for audio interconnections
There was considerable discussion about the need to specify the minimum appropriate plating. There was also discussion of whether a similar specification should be added to AES63 also. It was suggested that the TIA spec includes a minimum plating specification.
The committee discussed the need to get manufacturers to use the standard. The chair will send letters to manufacturers of equipment that implement QTP audio interfaces along with a complementary copy of the standard. He will also investigate getting an article published about the standard in the audio press.
