AES42-R Review of AES42-2010: AES Standard for Acoustics - Digital interface for microphones
No new requirements for maintenance have been identified for AES42, it is reaffirmed in a new printing, 2016-02-08.

AES-X085 Detailed Professional Microphone Specifications
IEC 60268-4 maintenance:
CDV is prepared but not yet distributed. All changes discussed in Berlin are included. The plan is to go directly to IS without FDIS in between. That can only happen if there are no negative votes on the CDV.

Wind measurements:
Wind measurements have been done by Neumann and Sennheiser. Data will be published soon. Next in row will be Schoeps. Lewitt will join.

Jürgen Breitlow will put a plan on the SC 04-04 site to coordinate next measurements.

X230
Sub site for SC 04-04 F is working and files are uploaded there.

Jeff Berryman gave an introduction to AES70 and the ideas behind X230 to create profiles. Jeff will share his presentation on SC 04-04-F. There is an updated draft for wireless mics (X230-Mic-Profile-Sennheiser-171013.xlsm) which waits for comments and further discussions. It was discussed to have two profiles: one for wired microphones and one for wireless microphones.

Further development will be done by email discussions.

New projects:

There have been discussions to have a standard for array microphones or an informative annex to IEC 60268-4 because the current standard does not reflect the specific properties of array microphones. Sennheiser and Beyerdynamics do not see a real need for standardization activities. There is agreement between the participants that this need to be driven by manufacturers of array microphones as the most interested parties.

The question was raised whether there is a need for a document describing “normalization” of higher order ambisonics because there are several implementations on capturing and rendering side which need to fit for good performance. This should be driven by interested manufactures as well. The topic was discussed in TC Spatial Audio as well.

Liaisons:

MT IEC 61938:
IS will be published soon and distributed.

New business:

There was no new business.

The next meeting will be held in Milan, Italy 2018-05, in conjunction with the AES 144th convention.
