Project to specify shields of 25-way D-type connectors in balanced circuits launched

AES-X249, a project to specify the shield connections of 25-way D-type connectors in balanced circuits, has been started.  It will be developed in SC-05-05 under the direction of chair Anthony Kuzub.

The standard will specify requirements for, and summarize general considerations relative to, the shielding of 25-way D-type connectors in balanced audio applications, taking into account measures commonly necessary for the preservation of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) at both audio and radio frequencies.  This standard will not address issues of safety.

The SC-05-05 working group will meet at the NY AES Convention to begin development of this standard.  All interested parties are invited to attend.  Interested parties may also join SC-05-05 and participate remotely via teleconference and receive updates by email.
