Summary

Each year the MTSU AES hosts its Studio Clean-Up event in order to recruit new members and clean MTSU's studio facilities for the upcoming semester. The event began with an introduction from the section chair, Michael Zuehsow. He discussed what AES is all about and the events we have planned for the upcoming semester with the record setting crowd. Faculty advisors Bill Crabtree and Michael Fleming also spoke briefly about the section and the highly successful gobo construction project undertaken by several of the faculty and student members over the summer. The attendees were then divided up into cleaning teams for each of MTSU's studio facilities and sent with cleaning supplies to vacuum, dust, and scrub the studios to a brilliant shine. A small group also went with Prof. Bill Crabtree to put the last coats of paint on several of the new gobos. Once the work was completed, everyone reassembled for free pizza and drinks provided by the section. While this event is always a success, this semester drew record numbers of interested students, many of whom were totally new to the department.
