Summary

Today we were visited by music business professional and professional trombonist Jeff Bush. Jeff has played in many groups including the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Count Basie Big Band, and most recently, with the big band of Harry Connick Jr. His experiences in the music business have provided great insight into the "do's and don'ts" of the business and how to make a career out of any branch of music. Mr. Bush spoke about the many different jobs included in the title of 'musician.' As musicians, we are performers, educators, composers, and business people. We listed all the jobs under those categories and realized that we are capable of doing a lot in the music industry. Mr. Bush explained the details of a good press kit and how to send a letter to find an agent.
