Summary

On September 29th 2011, the auditorium at Estudio Urbano, in Buenos Aires, was chosen for the start of the "Second Series of Open Conferences in Estudio Urbano; Audio & Acoustics", organized once again by AES Argentina.
This Series consist of a total of ten Seminars from different keynote speakers, each specialized in diverse areas of audio and acoustics, and taking place every Thursday from September 29th until December 1st.

On October 27th, Nilda Vechiatti was our instructor to the facilities of the LAL/CIC - Laboratory of Acoustics and Lighting/Committee for Scientific Research - located in the city of La Plata, Buenos Aires.
Her speech aimed to provide a full description of the LAL-CIC facilities, including four chambers for transmission loss (to air noise and impacts), a reverberant chamber, and an anechoic chamber, all of which meet strict international standards for certification around the world. Examples of application and use of these facilities were given to demonstrate an describe the various stages of testing and work done on the upholstery, seats, curtains, carpets, boxes, balconies, as used for restoring the Teatro Colón, in Buenos Aires.

Nilda Vechiatti is an telecommunications and acoustics engineer. She serves as Head of Practical Work at the Acoustic and Electroacoustic Department, at the Faculty of Engineering - University of Buenos Aires. She is also Professor in Graduate Courses at the National Technological University, FRLP, and does Professional Home and Personal Support research for the Laboratory of Acoustics and Lighting LAL - Committee for Scientific Research.
