Jim Garrett and Kerry Geist of Klipsch Audio Technologies presented a very interesting and extremely well received talk on Klipsch's corporate background, loudspeaker design principles, and some special insight into Klipsch's new Palladium series loudspeakers. Founded in 1946 by Paul Klipsch, the company has earned a distinctive reputation for quality and efficiency with their characteristic horn-loaded designs. The advantages of using horns, including increased directionality and better acoustic coupling for improved efficiency, were discussed. The talk also focused on the new upcoming Palladium series loudspeakers, and some driver samples were passed around. Issues such as diaphram movement, port optimization, magnet structure, and phasing plug were described. The meeting concluded with some generous give-aways, including a pair of Klipsch Custom-3 earphones.
