The workshop was lead by studio owner Mike Wilson. The beginning of the workshop was centered around drum tuning and set-up for a studio environment. This portion was taught by seasoned percussionist and engineer David Johnston. David also went over the differing sonic characteristics of drum kits in general. For the second portion Mike went over microphone placement and set-up. He also touched on different types of microphones as well as the individual results they might yield. The actual drum samples were tracked on Patchwerk's SSL 9096 Console using a Pro Tools HD system.
