This March 27, 2023, a periodic meeting of the student section of AES Tamaba was held. The Acoustics department, in charge of Federico Gironelli and Brian Aras, presented to the rest of the team their research plan for this year "Measurements and Analysis of enclosures", with the informative power point and the forms that establish the schedule of activities. The objectives of this project will be divided into two instances. The first instance intends to put into practice and exercise the measurement and analysis of enclosures, for which the control room and number 2 of Tamaba will be used. A second stage of measurements and analysis will comprise room 1 of the institution and will incorporate the projection, construction, and installation of acoustic tools.
The purpose of these practices is to be able to make files that contain the information collected about the acoustic character of the rooms, coloratura, modes, reverberation time, emphasizing measurements not only within the norm, but focused on the real experience of recording instruments that It happens every day in these places. Therefore, it is intended to map the behavior of sound in different locations, mainly those where microphones are normally located during recording sessions. While in the control the approach will be a different one, seeking to know the degree of fidelity of the place.
This information will be available to those students and musicians who use these venues, so that they can take these investigations into consideration, and use the data provided to make better decisions in their work.
On the other hand, in the face of problems encountered, it is intended to find solutions that contribute to the quality of the work carried out in these venues, with the design and manufacture of prototypes for initial tests and then the final realization of the indicated acoustic tools.
On the other hand, the proposal to start a software development project arose, Bartolomé Serra shared part of his research on circuits and compressors and the idea of ??starting by manufacturing a digital compressor plugin to which functionalities can be added as the research progresses. , both about circuits and about programming and functions.
The audiovisual department, for its part, continues to advance in research on sound systems, complying with the schedule that was launched three weeks ago.
For upcoming meetings, it is expected to draw up a research and development plan to face the plugin project and start up the acoustics department project, involving new members.
