On Saturday 8 and Friday 21 our chair reunited with members of schools ECOS and EMC to record IRs of different reverberant rooms that seemed interesting to us.
The objective was to learn how to record properly an IR of a room, to deconvolve the recorded IR, and then to convolve it with other signals as a reverb effect. We used different microphone arrays (XY, NOS, ORTF, AB, and just for fun, a pseudo binaural array) and a sine sweep as the impulse. We recorded in a reverberant and diffuse building entry with a stair, being this spot proposed by EMC´s treasurer Federico Matta Trejo, who lives there. The other spot was in a space located in the EMC school, a hall with a long and diffuse reverberation tail.
This is the first intersectional student project in which we are involved, so we are very happy to share these activities with our colleagues from other schools! This collaborations and networking wouldn't have been possible without the networking that took place in the Latin American Conference of this year.
