Every Spring, the St. Louis AES invites all graduates of audio programs to join us to be recognized for their achievement and eagerly welcomed to our industry via the Audio Engineering Society. It is always a terrific opportunity to expand our audio outreach and make new friendships for the future.
Former AES San Francisco Chair Brian (Bt) Gibbs, from Skyline Entertainment & Publishing/Tool Shed Studios shared his presentation "Moving Forward & Post-Pandemic Pivots: Managing A Successful Audio Business."
The presentation was a big success with attendees, covering a wide variety of topics affecting audio careers, including:
accessing legal guidance
local support from your municipalities, state and national organizations
choosing an entity structure
basic accounting/bookkeeping/banking options
insurance considerations
building a team (inside or outside your organization)
production agreements (artists, work-for-hire, letters of direction)
copyright/patent
sync licensing
managing royalties... and more
The online attendees were engaged and appreciative. Thanks to Gibbs for an informative evening.
