Summary

February was a whirlwind of activity for the Webster University chapter of AES. This month, three guest speakers joined our weekly meetings from far and wide. We welcomed Tracy Cowitt and David Patridge to give advice and tell students of their experiences working as sound designers on Broadway and their affiliation with the Muny of St. Louis.
Halfway through the month, we welcomed Brooklyn-based producer and engineer Paul "Willie Green" Womack. He graciously attended our Zoom call to give audio students insight into his work, advice for paving your own way through the industry, and tips for recording. Less exciting but just as valuable for students, AES discussed experimental recording techniques to achieve unique sounds in the studio at our meeting without a guest speaker.
Unfortunately, our scheduled concert series for this month was canceled. Our second concert series of the semester will still be held on April 19th on Facebook Live.
Webster also recorded and released the tracks for the Mixing Competition as a part of our annual summit! Files are now live to download and final mixes are due Friday, March 12 at 5 pm. All high school and college students are eligible to compete for exciting prizes and constructive feedback from qualified judges. The Central Region Audio Student Summit will be held virtually on March 19 through March 21 with panelists from all over the country. To register, you can visit aeswebster.org.
