Webster University - November 1, 2020

Meeting Topic:

Meeting Location:

Summary

Webster's student meetings this month were pretty lowkey compared to previous months. We discussed different ways to get involved in the industry, like sound design for video games and what Black Friday deals are happening this year that students can take advantage of.
For our final meeting of the month, we held elections for new officer positions in preparation for our annual Central Region Audio Student Summit. Planning is in full swing and pieces are falling into place for the event on Friday, March 19 through Sunday, March 21, 2021.
Outside of weekly meetings, Webster AES hosted and participated in a few other events. On November 12, we hosted our first Virtual Concert Series. Streaming on Facebook Live, Webster Alum, Ryan Marquez, played a jazz show with his band. Webster will be hosting two more Concert Series live streams in the spring semester.
On November 20, AES President John Krivit invited Webster students to attend a virtual tour of the Telefunken Elektroakustik factory in South Windsor, Connecticut. Over Zoom, students were shown how microphones built in the factory are put together and tested, as well as the history of the different series of microphones Telefunken has built along with other companies, like Neumann and AKG.
