In the Fall semester, Toby Estes stepped down as chair, and Alyssandra Nighswonger was elected. Michael Plell stepped up as secretary. Julian Sharifi remains VP, and Joe Jepson remains Treasurer. We started off by going as a group to see the documentary, "It Might Get Loud." It was a pretty good documentary, featuring Jimi Page, Jack White, and The Edge. It was interesting to compare and contrast the lives, philosophies, techniques and technologies of the three players. At one of our meetings, one of our members Jake Nyiri demonstrated the Korg Electribe we have here at the college. He focused the demo on the sampling capabilities if the Electribe. At another, our faculty advisor, Nancy Allen, brought in a Theremin. We watched some instructional videos, and all got a chance to try it out. It's harder than it looks. The instructor in charge of the music department, Peter Knapp, also came in for a meeting and gave us a lecture on absolute pitch. It brought to light the importance of good ear training.
