Section member Duane Wise presented processor design and operation for dynamics controlled by parametric filters. After historical background, he showed two simple modifications to a traditional dynamics processor to make a dynamic parametric EQ (DPEQ) band. Using this DPEQ architecture, he outlined a four-step procedure using reliably measurable values and audition to control dynamic behavior in arbitrary spectral bands. The audition of dynamic behavior used "rotation point" to define a compression curve through a fixed point that was not located at the threshold. Demonstrations of this procedure involved solo vocals and acoustic instruments.
