CRAS AES Chair Peter G. opened the meeting with introductions. He then gave the AES group
leaders an opportunity to introduce their groups and their purpose at CRAS. Peter then went on
to talk about what AES is and the benefits of membership, and continued with updates for AES
members including this week's mix clinic, our condenser mic build in November, the musician's
database, our AES Discord server, and tomorrow's Women of Audio meeting. Cole B. then gave
a short breakdown of internship opportunities, and Peter P. gave a recap of last week's event,
OG's Vinyl Clinic. Peter G. detailed AES's upcoming events, and then gave the AES groups 10
minutes to meet and discuss new business. After reconvening, Peter G. moved to the weekly
topic, and watched a YouTube video titled "How a recording-studio mishap shaped '80s music",
a look at gated reverb and how its accidental discovery influenced popular music. Then Peter G.
moved onto the Kahoot quiz (with candy prizes), which tested students' knowledge of CT and
MIDI.
