Summary

The conference took place in the Teatro Casa Blanca at USFQ and was address by the professor Gabriel Montufar of the Faculty of Music (CoM) from Universidad San Francisco de Quito.

Gabriel covered several functions and possibilities that Ableton Live has for the production of electronic music. Gabriel talked about sound design, synthesizer, mixing, max for live and sampling and gave examples of each one.

In order to this, Gabriel composed a song from scratch in that moment using all of the previous techniques. He explained several tools and plug-ins used to produce the track as well as the mixing decisions employed in that moment. Additionally, Gabriel sampled a couple of instruments that were incorporated into the track. While he was producing the track he also showed his approach in searching new sounds and building the track step by sep.

Gabriel Montufar is a professor of music production at Universidad San Francisco de Quito and an electronic music artist under his pseudonyms Gabriel Montufar and Spatial. His first Album Reborn in got into the Top 10 releases of Trance Music in the BeatPort Portal. His single "Headstrong" with Antonella Ponce was well received on radio and was included in the official playlist from Spotify "Fresh Electronic"
