Other business or activities at the meeting:
First off, it is our pleasure to announce the elected officers for the 2009-2010 term here at Ithaca College. Results are as follows:
Chair: Kevin Harper
Vice Chair: Phil Abbott
Treasurer: Dana Billings
Secretary: Michael Caporizzo
Committee: Jason Calhoun
Congratulations to the elected officers, and we look forward to the hard work and results that will come from them.
We are also excited to announce our first Guest Lecture of the year: world-renowned producer Craig Street will be holding an open forum discussion and Q&A open to all students, faculty, and any others interested. This will be in the Presser Rehearsal Hall in the Ithaca College Whalen Center for Music, Thursday, October 8 from 11AM-2PM. Joining him will be Ithaca alum and vocalist Alyssa Graham, who is currently in pre-production with Mr. Street for her upcoming album. They will be on site to talk about the production process, recording vocals, studios, engineers, gear, and of course, that magical "first take"!
And as we all know, the AES 127th Convention is this weekend in NYC. IC will have a booth at the Educational Fair in the lower level lobby on Saturday from 2-4PM. We will be featuring a playback of some of our highlight multi-track concerts, some of our gear providers (SSL, Glyph, NHT Pro, BLUE Microphones, Radial, Digidesign, and others). Most importantly, a large amount of our student body and both professors will be on site to speak with any and all interested persons about our BM Sound Recording Technology program.
A few of our students will be awaiting the judges comments and results from the student recording competition. Best of luck!
Our professors, chair, and a few alumni will be partaking in the discussions on audio education in Room 6 of the lower floor. We are looking forward to some fresh viewpoints and a progressive discussion!
See you all at the convention, and safe travels!
