These periodic critical listening sessions have been a good method of reaching out to AES members (producers, engineers, studio tech people) and non-members who might feel overlooked by other organisations. As this was held at a mastering facility, participants were encouraged to discuss the technical aspects of their audio: mixing and recording challenges, and (in two instances) transfer from analogue formats.
