The February 1st AES production meeting started off at 8:00 PM with a small introduction of the student chapter office holders, as well as the coming changes to the current production staff. Once the introductions were finished, the current upcoming schedule for all CRAS AES events was reviewed, to include a few key events that are upcoming. Most notably is the Friday February 19th visit by Luca Pretolesi, the chief engineer at Studio DMI who is a well known producer/mix engineer from Las Vegas who has worked with many well known EDM artists such as Dj Snake, Diplo, Skrillex, and others. This particular event will be a mandatory event for all CRAS students scheduled around class time. Also coming up in early February, starting approximately February 15th, the CRAS AES student chapter will be holding a mix contest sponsored by AEA Microphones. Students will have a month long timeframe for which they may submit mixes for the contest so that when AEA Microphones visits CRAS on Wednesday, March 16, the winner will be announced and awarded an AEA microphone stereo bar, valued at around $250. The CRAS AES student chapter will also be conducting an Internship Bootcamp on Thursday, March 24th, which will entail many different "stations" which will focus on various aspects of expectations and exercises to prepare students for the many obstacles that they could face when they start their internship upon graduating. This event will only be open to 40 students so a sign up sheet will be available 2-3 weeks prior to the night of the bootcamp. There will be friendly competition between the students as the 40 students will be broken up into teams and each team will be graded on their performance. The best team of the bootcamp will end up winning various prizes, to be determined before the bootcamp commences. After these events were discussed, the potential ideas for future events were reviewed and discussed. A few key events that are up and coming are a songwriting clinic, re-amp build, and a potential student ran live concert. The meeting was then opened up to all attendees so that brainstorming for future ideas could commence. A new possible event that was discussed was a tour of 513 Studios, a studio made of 95% analog equipment. A scoring session with a CRAS instructor was also discussed as a possible event for the future. After the attendees had finished discussing potential future events, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
