Summary

Tim Westergren, founder of Pandora Internet Radio and one of Rolling Stone's Top Agents of Change, spoke to a packed auditorium about The Future of Music. Initially, Westergren's talk focused on the the origins of Pandora, what Pandora is doing for the music industry, and Pandora's plans for the future. Halfway through the talk, however, the audience began asking questions and the presentation took on more of a conversational feel. Tim is a young, charismatic musician who is changing the way we listen to music. After graduating from Stanford University, Tim dabbled in several musical professions while also working as a nanny (or "manny" as he called it). During this time, he recognized that there is an enormous spectrum of musicians that go unheard and unrecognized because of the way the industry is structured. With this in mind, he started the company which has now evolved into Pandora Internet Radio. It allows users to find music that fits their taste within a database where 70% of the musicians are unsigned. Tim brought a great perspective to all those in attendance and showed us that for him, it really is all about the music.
