Summary

12 Students from CRAS had the privilege today to visit 513 Studios owned by Catherine Vericolli, Catherine and her Assistant Engineer Dominic Armstrong gave a tour to all of our students. We started off the tour in the B Room, one of the first things we talked about were the particular monitoring selection for this room, they included the Adam S4X-V, Tannoy Little Gold 12 and Yamaha NS-10's. We next chose a few songs to A/B all three monitors and were told to pay extra close attention to the differences in the three selections. After the monitoring rundown we were shown the console and the outboard gear B Room has to offer. Some of gear included the Trident 80B, 24trk 2? Mara MCI JH24, Manley Massive Passive and the LA-2A just to name a few. We then moved to the A Room where that is the home of 513's newest console the "Rupert Neve Designs 5088" Cather talked with us more about what she likes most with their new console and all the perks it has to offer; Cather also told us she talked to Rupert Neve himself before buying the console. Eventually everyone made their way to the live room where we could see a drum set for an album 513 is currently working on, parallel from the drum set was an original RCA 44BX. While in the live room we talked about all the amps, microphones and acoustic treatment in this room. Our time at 513 Studios was short but a pleasure no doubt to experience what the studio has to offer an all the stories told throughout the night.
