Summary

Todays meeting was scheduled to be the viewing of Pink Floyd's The Wall in 5.1
surround sound. With a total of fifth teen members attending to help trouble shoot and
view, this meeting was a success.
Upon 7:30 we finished rounding up the supplies and started routing signal to the
console. This took a little longer than expected with some technical difficulties, all of
which were fixed with team work. We used a Windows PC to play the movie and play in
5.1. We broke out the 5.1 into 6 separate channels of DI's before we input the signal to
the Venue's digital snake in Monitor Land. We used AUX channels to output the signal
to 5 PRX's and the L Acoustic subs. While that small group was working on routing
signal the rest of the group discussed what we would like to see and hear at the
upcoming Grad Panel. We also reviewed old business for those who were not present
and what our upcoming events are.
The Wall was an intriguing movie with controversial views on many subjects.
What we tried to focus on and discuss was the way they incorporated Pink Floyd's
albums into the production. Adding sound effects and balancing the dialogue with the
music was also very interesting to many. We also focused on what we felt the
differences and advantages to the 5.1 surround sound compared to home systems and
other things we have viewed in the past.
