Summary

Tonight's members-only meeting looked at the efforts to transition the speciality services of Bellmedia over to HDTV. The preparations for the forthcoming London Olympics was also discussed.

The evening included an quick tour of the facility.

The evening was hosted by Paul Sellers who is the Audio Operations Manager.

The presentation portion of the evening looked at CTV's move towards broadcasting using an all-discreet infrastructure. Paul was joined by Mike Nunan and Joshua Tidsbury as they discussed technology and workflow implications, and the broadcaster's needs to respond to a list of increasing demands.

Topics covered included file-based contribution, descriptive video, and loudness-based signal handling in response to ATSC A/85.

Bob Miles offered some insights into the many varied and involved preparations taking place at the Agincourt facility to allow Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium to undertake next summers' Olympics.
