About

Roland Hemming is an audio consultant and project manager. His wide experience covers almost every aspect of live audio.



He has been the audio manager, working for the client, managing the two largest audio projects in the world; the Millennium Dome and the 2012 Olympic Games. 



His wide experience enables him to advise on many aspects of the audio process and to design and deliver projects to the highest standard. 



His 25-year career in the industry has taken him to live events, construction sites, installations, hotels, rail, cruise ships, theatre, corporate AV, broadcast, education and stadia.

In 1998 he was appointed Head of Sound for the world's largest sound system installation project, the Millennium Dome in London.



For the 2012 Olympic Games he was Venue Technology Manager for Audio, working for LOCOG, the London Organising Committee. He was responsible for all Games audio except Ceremonies. This included the delivery of over 400 systems, liaising with and giving advice to many interested parties on issues as diverse as rigging, broadcast, radio spectrum, audio for crowd safety, disability and compliance. 



He was on the British Standards committee for BS 7827, sound systems for sports grounds and co-wrote the Installation Europe guide to voice alarm systems. 

Other projects include: Lord's Cricket Ground, Royal Ascot Racecourse, Twickenham Rugby Stadium, St Pancras Station and Harrods.



He has presented papers to the Audio Engineering Society and been advisor to Infocomm. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences, a judge for the PLASA Innovation Awards, Audio Pro awards and AV awards. He is regular author of articles for industry magazines.

Roland is a member of PLASA, AES and ISCE.


He was also on the British Standards committee for BS7827, sound systems for sports grounds
