Member since 1969 5 decades in professional audio-
Frederick J. Ampel has been involved in the professional A/V industry for nearly 40 years. His career has included work at professional levels in live sound reinforcement, broadcast audio production, audio systems design and installation, systems integration, hardware design and development, residential small room acoustics and system integration as well as sales and marketing positions.

From 1983 to1991, he was founding Editor/Editorial Director of Sound & Video Contractor. He was also Editorial Director for RE/P. He was also the founding editor/editorial Director for SCN (Systems Contractor News, and Editorial Consultant for Residential Systems Magazine. He is currently the Editorial Development Consultant for Live Sound International/ProSoundWeb.

In the fall of 1991, he founded Technology Visions, a consultancy specializing in marketing, business, and technology development, as well as trade show special events for the professional audio and video industry worldwide. The firm provides services in marketing, market research and development, product development and planning, and a number of related areas.

Ampel holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Boston University and a B.A. in English/Music from Long Island University. He has been published in the proceedings of the IoA, AES, NSCA, InfoComm, and numerous other journals and publications. His work also appears in Residential Systems and Live Sound International magazines on a regular basis.

He was the principal editor for the 1997 edition of CEDIA's Home Theater Manual. He has served on both the NSCA and CEDIA education committees and served as chairman of CEDIA's Certification Task Force. He has conducted classes and workshops for NSCA, CEDIA, InfoComm, and AES, as well as the IoA and SCIF in the UK. He created and then produced CEDIA's Garden of High Definition Delight for its entire 1997-2002 run, as well as numerous other special events and demonstration theaters within trade events worldwide.

Technology Visions also provides specialized design services and acoustics consultation to the custom residential entrainment industry on a project basis, with more than 100 projects completed worldwide since 1995.
