Jörg Sennheiser, born in 1944, attended the Hanover High School Goetheschule, the University of Hanover, and the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich Electronics. In 1974, after completing his doctorate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich, Jörg Sennheiser joined Siemens -Albis AG in Zurich as a project engineer. With a desire to accelerate his career opportunities, his father, the company founder Fritz Sennheiser (1912-2010) brought him into the family business as Technical Director in 1976. During the late '70s Prof. Sennheiser joined the AES and in the following years, chaired three European AES conventions. In 1982, he took over complete responsibility for Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG, following a pre-arranged agreement when his father turned 70. During his time at the helm, he modernized the structures of the company and introduced among other things, job descriptions and strategic planning. The company grew to an internationally successful organization. This involved setting up new manufacturing facilities in Ireland and the USA, while at the same time expanding production in Germany. Like his father before him, Jörg Sennheiser also further advanced the technical development of microphones and headphones, regularly visiting musicians, engineers, and performers in order to understand the wishes and needs of his customers. As a result of his leadership, the company has received numerous awards, which he discusses during this interview. Since 2013, his two sons Daniel and Andreas lead the company into its third generation.
Prof. Jörg Sennheiser's leadership has been instrumental to the company's success and has paved the way for future success. This is a fascinating interview with one of the world's most celebrated audio engineers.
