Born and raised in the North of England, Richard Hollinshead studied Physics and Psychology at Cambridge University before leaving to pursue a career in audio engineering. Most of his working life has been spent at Meridian Audio Limited, recently as Chief Technical Officer. He was instrumental in many of Meridian's developments including the software design for the world's first digital signal processing loudspeaker in 1991. From 2011 to 2017 Richard led the development of Meridian’s audio technology available in McLaren and Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.
Richard has lived in both Germany and America, and also holds a post graduate diploma in software development from the Open University. Richard's recently-founded venture, Hollinshead Audio, has interests in audio hardware and software design, as well as signal processing and audio coding formats. He is a consultant to MQA Ltd and Data Conversion Systems Ltd (dCS).
